A New Home for China

When decorating my dining room I originally went the formal route.  I had my grandmother’s dining room set which included a table, chairs, buffet and china closet. Everything was  mahagony.   Everything was a set and everything was not the look my husband and I wanted.  I also did not like  the feeling that I was living in my grandmother’s house .  Because I wasn’t willing to get rid of the set or paint it, I decided to do a little switcheroo.  I brought my bookcase that my Dad built  and put it in the dining room.  The book shelf is navy so it breaks up all the mahagony wood and adds a more casual vibe to the dining room.  I love it.

Craig’s List Treasure

I scoured Craig’s List to find the perfect coffee table to upcycle for my living room.  I wanted it to have good bones,  a bottom shelf, and drawers.  I found  this Pennsylvania House one for 20 dollars and quickly snatched it up.  I sanded, primed and painted it with exterior-white paint.  Next I added nautical-navy stripes.  I think everything looks great with stripes.  Lastly, I took off the old hardware and added these fun green pulls from Anthropologie
